Dithering places different colours side by side to suggest smooth transitions. With few colours the image looks finer, but the bead pattern becomes more fragmented.

How to use

  1. In step 1, choose the width in squares and the number of colours. Please choose a number of colours that matches the bead colours you have; with fewer colours, the beads are easier to find.
  2. In step 3, choose the bead diameter and the pegboard size. The page calculates the total number of beads, the finished size and the number of pegboards needed. Red lines on the pattern mark the edges of each pegboard.
  3. Colours are numbered from the most used to the least used. Each colour is listed with its hex colour code; please choose the bead colour closest to it.
  4. The pattern is downloaded as a PNG file, which you can print or enlarge on your phone.

Questions and answers

Which brand’s colour codes does the pattern use?
None. Bead manufacturers do not publish colour values that can be verified, so the pattern gives each colour a number and a hex colour code. Please choose the closest bead colour.
How many squares should I choose?
The width is the number of squares across, which is also the number of beads across. Small designs and profile pictures are usually 20 to 40 squares wide. More squares give more detail and need more beads.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is converted in your browser. It is not uploaded to our server.
