After you upload an image, you can copy the text or download the files here.

How to use

  1. In step 1, choose the width and the character set. A wider setting shows more detail and puts more characters on each line.
  2. After you upload the image, the preview updates as you change the settings. If the subject does not stand out from the background, increase the contrast.
  3. By default, the art is made for a white background, with denser characters in darker areas. For a dark background, turn on “Invert”.
  4. In step 3, copy the text or download a TXT or PNG file. The characters line up only when shown in a monospaced font.

Questions and answers

Why are the lines misaligned after pasting?
ASCII art must be shown in a monospaced font, in which every character has the same width. Please change to a monospaced font where you paste it, or download the PNG.
Can I use my own characters?
Yes. Choose “Custom” and enter the characters from darkest to lightest. Chinese and other full-width characters are about twice as wide as letters, so please reduce the width.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is converted in your browser. It is not uploaded to our server.
